Mr. Davis is an independent contractor that offers his medical and surgical experience as a first assistant for general surgery and plastic surgery cases.

A Surgical Assistant or “First Assistant” is a critical member of the surgical team.  The goal of the First Assistant is to aid the Surgeon in all aspects of the operation which helps to ensure that the operation or procedure is performed as smoothly as possible.  This helps make the procedure safer for the patient as well.

Significant medical and surgical training is required for someone to be allowed to be a First Assistant.  Both the Board of Medical Examiners and the Medical Board of the Hospital must authorize someone to assist in operations with a Surgeon.  A First Assistant is only used in an operation when the Surgeon feels that there is real benefit in having their help with a surgical case.
